LYSN is Hilary Jeffery’s new “minimal psychedelic” group with a continuously changing line up
since 2005 Lysn have performed in England, the Netherlands and Germany with many formations, from duos to large orchestral ensembles – each Lysn concert is conceived as a unique event, especially designed for the location and players, with music made through new notation, meditation and improvisation, played on acoustic and electronic instruments

designed to push the limits of live, improvised drone music
examining its intersections with dub and psychedelia
creating a form of “minimal psychedelic music”
from floorboard-creakingly quiet to physically affecting volumes
an experiment in propulsive meditation, or meditative propulsion
LYSN features a wide range of free improvisors united by their interest in drone, calculated repetition, long-form patience, and jouneys into inner/outer space…

key musical influences in the development of Lysn’s sound include:
Eliane Radigue, John Hassel, Don Cherry, Spacemen 3, Gong, Olivier Messiaen, Matmos, Can, The Leather Nun, George Russell, Sun Ra, Public Image Limited, Catherine Christer Hennix, Nurse With Wound, Cluster, Angelo Badalamenti, Velvet Undergound, Slug and The Necks
